had lunch with a friend this week who was reading a book about eccentrics and how interesting and awesome they are. this list shows the characteristics that eccentrics tend to share.

now granted, i’m not exactly sure what the author’s definition of an eccentric is, but i’m pretty confident the venn diagram of it and any person in a fandom would have incredibly high overlap (this list also describes most of the queers i know and many of my best friends).

my conclusion: the definition of an eccentric = awesome.

much like the original definition of ‘queer’, ‘eccentric’ seems to have been used by those who are not as awesome to try to demean those of us who have advanced to a higher level of amazing. (i’m not sayin, i’m just sayin…)
